The Courier and Daily Comet, sister newspapers serving about 23,000 subscribers and a growing online audience in Houma and Thibodaux, La., are looking for a reporter. You’ll write news and feature stories and cover some of the biggest issues affecting a unique part of Cajun country in south Louisiana, about 60 miles southwest of New Orleans.The ideal candidate will have a keen news sense, strong reporting and writing skills and a flair for finding hard-hitting, fun, unusual, enlightening local topics that readers care about. Candidates should have a solid mastery of English grammar and AP style.Demonstrated skills shooting and editing video and taking photographs are preferred. A four-year college degree is required. Previous experience at a daily newspaper or professional online news operation is preferred but not necessary.
