DESIGN DESK MANAGER The Killeen Daily Herald is seeking a journalist who is a fast and thorough page designer to manage our design/copy desk. The ideal candidate works well under pressure and is able to work up to 10 hours a day as needed. We are looking for a journalist who takes responsibility for making sure the design/copy desk is adequately staffed each day, who plans page workflow and who shares the daily and Sunday page layout work with our long-time, valued designers. The job entails working with other editors in the newsroom to provide the best display for photos and stories. The applicant must have strong editing skills, a solid knowledge of the AP Stylebook and the ability to write reader-grabbing headlines, as well as design pages.Social media and Web skills are desirable. The design desk manager is required to live in the Daily Herald coverage area, which includes Killeen, Copperas Cove and Harker Heights.
