Staff Photographer

Description:

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette is seeking a creative, experienced and energetic photographer to join our staff.

Candidates must have exceptional composition skills with the ability to create striking photos from everyday assignments. Individuals should also have strong news judgment and solid journalistic integrity.

Applicants should have the ability to propose and produce unique photo story ideas. The successful candidate should have creative and technical problem solving skills and an aptitude for quick learning.

Assignments range from news, sports, business and features. Position requires some night and weekend work.

SKILLS: The person should have the ability to meet tight deadlines; be proficient with Photo Mechanic and Photoshop; have strong caption writing skills; have good organizational skills. Experience shooting, editing and posting online video is a plus. And experience using a Content Management System and social media tools is also desired.

EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree in Photojournalism or Journalism is desired but appropriate professional experience may be deemed an acceptable substitute.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3 yrs. of experience working at a daily newspaper is required.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Arkansas’ only statewide daily newspaper, is owned by WEHCO Media, a privately owned communications company with interests in newspaper publishing, cable television, and internet.
