The Glenwood Springs Post Independent, widely honored in 2017 for its multimedia work, public service and commentary, is looking for a general assignment journalist and business reporter to build engagement and tell the stories that impact our community. We’re seeking digital savvy, strong storytelling skills and demonstrated thinking outside of traditional approaches.

Glenwood Springs, 40 miles from Aspen and 50 miles from Vail, is at the heart of year-round, world-class outdoor recreation, from whitewater rafting, bicycling and hiking to Nordic and alpine skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. This life is at the heart of why people live in the Roaring Fork Valley and what they do in their free time. We want to tell stories about this lifestyle, build reader contributions and combine these activities with other entertainment offerings in the area through a vigorous online presence, social media and print.

This reporter should have at least two years of related experience and can’t be an indoor flower — must appreciate an active lifestyle and enjoy being an active part of a very cool community.

  • Tell stories through innovative writing, photo, video or info graphics, and digital media.
  • Meet established deadlines, and excel under deadline pressures.

  • Report on a variety of topics that are important to our readers.
  • Enjoy the area and take advantage of everything the Colorado High Country has to offer.

  • Journalism/Public Relations/Communications Degree preferred.
  • Reporter Experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Must have a good understanding of web and social media.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one.
  • Must be motivated, and have a passion for journalism.
