Frommer's, the world-famous travel guidebook authority publishing since 1957, is looking for new talent. We are seeking interns to help us assemble and maintain our travel news and service information. The experience is well-rounded and interns get a taste of many areas. Duties include assisting with the running of the website, immersing yourself in our social media, researching, updating features, coming up with clever and well-researched slide shows, and keeping both our published books and our digital reviews fresh and correct. There will be opportunities to pitch and write bylined work, to try your hand at fact-checking, create content in a Web CMS, and research photos. Detail-oriented journalists do well, as do those with initiative in conceiving story ideas, but the critical skill in our interns is autonomy. We are based in New York City and Los Angeles, but interns work remotely, so a self-starter with excellent time management and a proficiency with deadlines is essential. Some of our interns go on to work for us in other capacities.

How to Apply: Send a cover letter and some writing samples to personnel@frommermedia.com. Your clips should include at least one review of a restaurant or travel attraction you know well so that we can get an idea of your writing voice (if you don't have a published example, you can write a new one); your cover letter should tell us what is important to you about travel and about covering the world. The start and end of the term, as well as the weekly schedule, can be tailored to your timetable. The term is 10 weeks (flexible) and the rate is $100 per week.
