Seeking talented managing editor
West Hawaii Today
West Hawaii Today, a 10,000-circulation daily newspaper located in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island, has an immediate opening for a strong managing editor.
This is a full-time management position that functions as the lead editor in the newsroom.
The managing editor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day newsroom operations, managing the reporters and copy desk, and editing staff-written stories. Light pagination duties and/or occasional reporting may be required.
Ideal applicant is an experienced, organized leader with excellent news judgment and editing skills, and the proven ability to develop compelling content.
Requirements: Journalism degree (or the equivalent in experience); at least three years of full-time editing/managing experience at a daily newspaper (not including college); proficiency with InDesign or similar pagination software; outstanding communication skills and attention to detail; calm and cool under pressure.
