The New York Jewish Week is looking for a full-time reporter to cover all aspects of Jewish life and community in New York City. Our ideal candidate is a curious, energetic newshound with a love of the five boroughs. This is a wonderful opportunity for a go-getter who is excited to cover New York through the lens of the Jewish experience, touching on everything from local politics and business to restaurants, synagogues and campus activism.
The candidate should have an understanding of Jewish culture and community, and an interest in covering the religious, ethnic and political diversity that shapes it. A deep familiarity with New York City is a plus.
This is an ideal position for an early- to mid-career reporter who is excited to explore the city and create a diverse portfolio of work that’s consumed by a devoted readership.
This full-time union position reports to the editors of the New York Jewish Week, a publication dedicated to covering the full breadth of Jewish life across the city. The New York Jewish Week was recently acquired by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) and its parent company, 70 Faces Media. The JTA and New York Jewish Week teams work together and meet regularly to brainstorm stories, share tips and maximize the impact of our work.
The New York Jewish Week is a decades-old independent Jewish newspaper. The publication was acquired by 70 Faces Media in 2021 and is currently undergoing an exciting transformation (with a relaunch planned in February) as part of 70 Faces' family of digital Jewish news and culture sites.
