The Emporia Gazette of Emporia, Kansas, has an opening for a news editor who can help lead a news operation and dive into local issues. Duties include newsroom management, and general assignment, feature writing, coverage.
The person must have sharp reporting instincts, outstanding news judgment, an ability to lead, report and write quickly in a fast-moving atmosphere. A curiosity about the community and its people is vital. The candidate must have the ability to work productively in a team setting.
The person must be aggressive and adept at setting priorities and reordering them as needed, particularly under deadline pressure or as circumstances change. The person should have strong editing and writing skills, and experience with Multimedia journalism. The position will also needs a knowledge of page layout. We use video, audio, Facebook and Twitter to tell our stories.
