FLORIDA TODAY, part of Gannett and the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a techno-minded journalist with a penchant for storytelling to join its team as a full-time Space Reporter. Space is a critical franchise for FLAT and, with Kennedy Space Center nearby, it is the life blood of our community. The reporter will join a Senior Space Reporter and will help staff monthly launch coverage for digital and print platforms. The job also provides for day-to-day coverage of breaking space stories from NASA, the U.S. Air Force and private space firms. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to shoot and produce video as well as develop, research and write groundbreaking enterprise stories.



•Bachelors' degree in Journalism, Communication, or similar.

• 3+ years of reporting at a daily newspaper or equivalent media.

•Engagement, source-building, video and other digital-focused skills are a must.

•Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;

•Commitment to develop and maintain sources;

•Adept at using social media to tell stories, engage readers, and cover breaking news;

•Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative, receive constructive feedback and work as part of a team yet still show individual initiative
