Description:
Eastern Iowa Publications, headquartered in Eldridge, Iowa, is actively seeking a full-time General Assignment Reporter for the award-winning North Scott Press, which has served northern Scott County, Iowa, and the North Scott School District since 1968.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting to know people, building relationships and telling meaningful stories. You’ll have a hands-on role as an important voice and advocate in several active communities. You will be tasked with general news and features reporting, covering governmental organizations, and special section reporting, as well as other duties as assigned. Evening and some weekend hours may be required.
The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient and a self-starter, forward thinking, enthusiastic, ready to learn and hit the ground running, and have a passion for community journalism. Experience with Microsoft Office, good writing skills and a command of the English language are a must. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite – especially InDesign – would also be helpful, and pagination skills would be a plus. Photography skills and familiarity with CMS are preferred. The ability to meet deadlines with accuracy is also required, as are positive customer service skills and creativity.
Eastern Iowa Publications offers a competitive benefits package, including health, dental and vision, 401K, vacation and paid holidays. Salary is commensurate with experience. We also offer ongoing training and educational opportunities through our memberships in the Iowa Newspaper Association and National Newspaper Association.
