Freelance Writers Wanted: Business and Industry Features
About FEDA
The Foodservice Equipment Distributors Association (FEDA)
represents distributors, manufacturers, and industry partners serving the
commercial foodservice equipment and supplies market. Through education,
industry resources, advocacy, and communications, FEDA works to strengthen the
distribution channel and promote the essential role distributors play in
connecting manufacturers with restaurants and other foodservice operators.
FEDA publishes a quarterly magazine and a weekly newsletter
covering industry news, business trends, leadership, technology, operations,
and other issues affecting the industry. Through these publications, FEDA seeks
to inform members about important trends, emerging business models, critical
challenges, or best practices. We also strive to highlight the expertise and
services distributors provide to the broader industry.
About the Opportunity
FEDA is seeking freelance writers to contribute articles to
its magazine and other publications. Working directly with the association’s
editor, freelance writers will help develop and produce engaging, informative
content that serves distributor executives and other industry professionals.
Assignments may include:
- Industry
trends: Exploring developments in technology, the economy, supply
chains, workforce management, and other issues shaping the industry.
- Business
challenges: Examining the obstacles facing foodservice equipment
distributors and how business leaders are responding.
- Operational
insights: Highlighting strategies, best practices and real-world
examples that help companies improve their operations, strengthen customer
relationships, and grow their businesses.
- Executive
profiles and company stories: Telling the stories of industry leaders
and businesses, with an emphasis on leadership, innovation, business
strategy, growth, and the people behind successful member companies.
Articles typically range from 1,200 to 1,800 words,
depending on the assignment, and freelance writers are generally paid by the
word (50 to 75 cents per word, based on experience). The editor will work with
writers to develop story ideas, establish the scope of each assignment,
coordinate interviews, and finalize articles for publication.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re interested in writers who know how to translate
complex business topics into clear, compelling stories for an executive
audience. Ideal candidates will have experience covering businesses,
particularly executive-level issues, leadership, management, and business
strategy.
We’re especially interested in writers with strong
storytelling and profile-writing skills who can conduct insightful interviews,
identify the details that bring a story to life, and produce well-reported
articles that go beyond the surface. Experience writing for business
publications, trade magazines, or professional associations is preferred.
Familiarity with the foodservice equipment and supplies
industry is a plus, but the ability to learn an industry, ask thoughtful
questions, and deliver accurate, engaging copy is most important.
How to Apply
Please submit the following:
- 2-3
writing samples that demonstrate your ability to write for a business
audience or trade association publication. Samples featuring executive
interviews, company profiles, business strategy, or industry analysis are
particularly welcome.
- A
link to your portfolio or professional writing website.
- A
brief introduction describing your relevant experience, areas of
expertise, and interest in writing for FEDA.
