STAFF REPORTER

West Fort Bend County, Texas | Texas Local Media

Texas Local Media, an award-winning community newspaper group serving communities across Texas, is seeking a motivated and dependable Staff Reporter to join our newsroom team in West Fort Bend County, Texas.

We are looking for a journalist who is passionate about local news and committed to telling the stories that matter most to our communities. This position covers a variety of beats, including local government, education, business, community events, features, and breaking news.

Responsibilities

• Research, report, and write accurate, engaging news stories for print and digital publication.

• Cover local government, schools, businesses, community events, and issues impacting residents.

• Attend public meetings, conduct interviews, and build relationships with community members and local leaders.

• Develop compelling feature stories that highlight the people and organizations within our communities.

• Take photos and contribute to digital and social media content.

• Meet publication deadlines and collaborate with editors on coverage planning.

Qualifications

• Strong writing, reporting, interviewing, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and develop story ideas.

• Photography and social media experience preferred.

• Journalism degree or relevant reporting experience preferred, but not required.

• Familiarity with Fort Bend County and surrounding communities is a plus.
