News Anchor & Multimedia Journalist

Since 2006, NewsTalk KZRG has earned the trust of listeners across the Four States. The award-winning KZRG News Team has been at the forefront of the region’s biggest stories, from severe weather and natural disasters to breaking news, statehouse coverage and elections. No one covers the Four States like KZRG AM and FM.

Zimmer Marketing, a growing family-owned media company in Joplin, Missouri, is seeking an energetic, curious and driven News Anchor & Multimedia Journalist to join the KZRG News Team.

This is a news-focused position for someone who wants to find stories, ask good questions and deliver timely, accurate local journalism across radio and digital platforms. You’ll anchor newscasts, report from the field and help tell the stories that matter to communities throughout Southwest Missouri, Southeast Kansas, Northeast Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.

Key Responsibilities

• Anchor live local and regional newscasts on KZRG.

• Report, write and produce original local news stories.

• Conduct interviews with newsmakers, community leaders and local officials.

• Cover breaking news, severe weather and major community events from the field.

• Develop sources and actively pursue stories throughout the Four States.

• Produce and edit audio, video and digital content.

• Publish breaking news and original reporting to KZRG’s website and social media platforms.

• Work closely with the KZRG News Team to determine daily coverage priorities.

• Maintain high standards for accuracy, fairness and journalistic integrity.

Skills and Qualifications

• Previous news anchoring, reporting or journalism experience preferred.

• Strong news writing, interviewing and storytelling skills.

• Confident, professional on-air delivery.

• Ability to recognize what makes a story relevant to a local audience.

• Comfortable reporting from the field and responding quickly to breaking news.

• Experience with audio, video, web publishing and social media is a plus.

• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative newsroom.

• Calm and professional under deadline pressure.

• Curious, coachable and willing to dig beyond the press release to find the story.

• On-site position based in Joplin, Missouri.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; journalism, communications or related media experience preferred.
