Statehouse Reporter, St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is looking for a hard-charging reporter to become our statehouse correspondent, covering all facets of Missouri state government. The range of coverage options is wide, including politics, breaking news and investigative stories. 

The job entails covering the Missouri Legislature's annual session, as well as also key policy decisions by the governor and other state leaders. But the coverage needs to go beyond the routine. We want someone who can dig deep, follow the money, and find the reasons underlying key decisions.

We want a good mix of daily coverage and broader pieces. Strong explanatory journalism is also a feature, with numerous chances to break down key decisions and policies for our readers. This is a chance to put your personal stamp on a busy, high-profile and critical beat. 

We want someone who can work across all of our digital platforms, navigate social media and understands the need to experiment with new story forms. Previous experience in covering state government is preferred.
