Digital Executive Producer, Houston Public Media
Job Description Introduction
This position will play a key leadership role in shaping the
newsroom’s digital future. Working alongside newsroom managers and
collaborating with team members across other departments, this person will help
set the vision, standards and daily expectations for digital performance. The
role will strengthen editorial decision-making, identify collaborative coverage
opportunities and ensure our journalism is accurate, engaging and effectively
presented across all Houston Public Media news platforms.
Department: Houston Public Media Salary: $75,100.00 -$95,800.00
Description:
Oversees the execution of Houston Public Media's (HPM)
digital strategy for the creation of new content across multiple media
platforms, ensuring collaborative and effective content creation, distribution
and marketing.
1. Develops and produces media for various projects in
accordance with Houston Public media
editorial standards.
2. Oversees and provides guidance to producers, production
personnel, digital staff and external
production contractors.
3.Coordinates media distribution across all platforms and
tracks performance metrics.
4. Develops digital programming and collaborates with local
and national content partners.
5. Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure adherence to
brand standards.
6. Organizes and plans training and communication efforts
with regional content partners.
7. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both
theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional
discipline, or the basic knowledge of more than one professional disciplines.
Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly
job-related, 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent
in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of
work being performed.
Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly
job-related experience.

- Lead
the newsroom’s digital strategy across all content platforms.
- Serve
as a key voice in daily editorial decision-making alongside newsroom
managers.
- Collaborate
with team members across departments to identify coverage and content
opportunities.
- Serve
as the primary editor for reporters’ web stories, ensuring accuracy,
quality and strong digital presentation.
- Establish
consistent digital workflows, standards and best practices across the
newsroom.
- Identify
skill and workflow gaps and provide training in video, analytics and
digital storytelling.
- Manage
newsroom equipment, including inventory, maintenance and staff access.
