Description:

Boise Weekly is looking for an editor and community-minded storyteller to lead our newsroom and help shape one of Boise’s most distinctive local publications.

As editor, you’ll lead reporters and interns, edit and write stories, and manage this alternative weekly’s print and digital products. You’ll also work with local artists and bring Boise Weekly’s biggest annual traditions — including Best of Boise and the Boise Weekly Art Auction — to life.

Candidates must have a genuine curiosity about Boise — its people, neighborhoods, arts, food, entertainment, culture and the issues shaping life in the city.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and support Boise Weekly reporters and interns.
  • Assign, edit and publish news and feature stories.
  • Write at least three stories each week.
  • Oversee BoiseWeekly.com, newsletters, email alerts and push notifications.
  • Manage artwork submissions and artist relationships.
  • Help lead Best of Boise and the Boise Weekly Art Auction.
  • Oversee Lifestyle coverage for the Idaho Press Weekend Edition.
  • Assist with copy editing Idaho Press publications.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong reporting, writing and editing skills.
  • Knowledge of Associated Press style.
  • Interest in arts, entertainment and local culture.
  • Strong organization, communication and news judgment.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and adapt quickly.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three years of journalism experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
