Description:
East Oregonian is seeking a general assignment reporter to work out of its Pendleton office. The schedule may require evening and/or weekend work.
We are looking for a team player willing to get involved in the local community through the publication of the weekly newspaper and daily web journalism. The right candidate will have a commitment to community journalism; be able to spot emerging issues and trends; and write clean, balanced and accurate stories that dig deeper than simple features.
Pendleton is the home of the famous Pendleton Round-Up, a large outdoor rodeo that draws tens of thousands of visitors to town each year. This position also covers communities throughout Umatilla and Morrow counties, which offer no shortage of topics and events to cover, ranging from the changes massive data centers create in rural communities to engaging features on local personalities.
EO reporters also collaborate with our reporters covering Baker, Grant, Union and Wallowa counties to tackle regional issues.
Candidates must have a degree in journalism or related experience and be proficient in AP style. Candidates also should have a good eye for photography. Already live in our area? So much the better.
