Description:
The state's leading news organization, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, seeks a smart, serious journalist to cover Arkansas' capital city. We are looking for a reporter who is passionate about accountability journalism, who is savvy and organized, who loves digging and knows how to develop sources and write crisp, clean, air-tight copy on deadline. We want a reporter who races to the tough stories rather than shrinks from them.
This is not a job for someone who's always wanted to give journalism a try. We are seeking a reporter whose commitment to the craft is evidenced either by having been trained for the work at a strong journalism school and worked for the school's news organization or one who's developed a resume and a portfolio of clips that shows the kind of work he or she can do. Preferably all of the above. We want professionals, not people looking to start new careers.
If all this sounds like you, email a cover letter, resume and three of your best clips to Executive Editor Lee Wolverton at lwolverton@adgnewsroom.com. The subject line should read: City Hall Reporter. Your clips should be in a ready-to-read format, either in pdf's or Word files or a linked portfolio where your copy can readily be accessed. Those who email links to websites requiring a subscription or links or pdf's that otherwise are unusable won't be considered. Hint: Following directions is the first step toward getting hired.
