Description:
Arts & Culture Calendar/Digital Content Producer
Pasatiempo | The Santa Fe New Mexican
Are you someone who always knows which museum has a new exhibition, which band is coming to town, and where to find the best things to do this weekend?
Pasatiempo is looking for an Arts & Culture Calendar/Digital Content Producer who can turn that curiosity into both a calendar in the print edition that’s a work of art and an online component that keeps and grows our audience.
This is a full-time opportunity to help shape the voice, reach, and digital presence of Pasatiempo, the esteemed arts and culture publication AND weekly magazine of The Santa Fe New Mexican. You’ll plan, write, edit and manage lively calendar and culture content across print, web, social media, and other digital platforms. The goal: make sure our audience knows what’s happening — and inspire them to get out and experience it.
What you’ll do
You’ll be at the center of Pasatiempo’s calendar and digital ecosystem, working with the editor to generate events-centric content that is timely, accurate, useful, and engaging.
That means:
· Ownership of the Pasatiempo beloved arts and entertainment calendar across print, web, and social platforms.
· Write briefs, captions, breaking arts news items, and other copy and pitch ideas for departments and features.
· Find the stories behind the calendar listings.
· Think multiplatform to help reimagine how content can move from print to web to social and beyond.
· Build relationships and develop and maintain a strong network of contacts across New Mexico’s arts and culture community, from artists and performers to galleries, museums, and publicists.
· Keep an eye on emerging digital trends, including podcasts, video, AI, and new ways of reaching audiences.
· Work closely with the editor, copy editor, writers and art directors to make Pasatiempo’s print and digital products stronger.
· Track content performance and audience engagement and use what you learn to help grow our reach.
Who we’re looking for
A sharp, curious, highly organized journalist who can juggle a lot of information and deadlines without losing sight of the details.
You should have:
· Strong writing and multiplatform content skills
· Excellent grammar, accuracy, and attention to detail
· The ability to manage multiple deadlines and high volumes of information
· Familiarity with social media and web/print publishing platforms
· An instinct for finding engaging content and fresh angles
· Comfort working under daily and weekly deadline pressure
· A creative eye and enthusiasm for experimenting with content
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· An interest in arts, entertainment, film, culture, travel, and/or food
· Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, as well as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
· At least one year of professional experience in publishing, digital content, marketing, or content management
· Two years of college or an associate degree preferred, particularly in digital communications, media, writing or journalism
· A Pasa-level work ethic to be the best.
Why this job matters
Santa Fe is one of the country’s great arts cities — and New Mexico’s cultural landscape is far bigger than Santa Fe alone.
This position is an opportunity to be a connector, curator, and storyteller for that landscape, guiding readers to discover the artists, performances, exhibitions, films, food, music, and cultural experiences that make this place distinctive.
If you’re energized by the question “What’s happening?” and immediately want to know “Who should know about it?” we’d like to hear from you.
The position may be hybrid remote with editor and management approval and depending on performance. It requires some nonstandard hours and occasional travel; a valid driver’s license is required, and access to a personal vehicle is preferred.
How to Apply:
Please send your resume, cover letter, and three references to Pasatiempo's Editor Carolyn Graham at cgraham@sfnewmexican.com. Please refrain from telephone calls at this time.
