The Spokesman-Review is seeking a visual storyteller to join our photo staff. The ideal candidate excels across a broad range of assignments—from fast-paced spot news to in-depth human-interest features and high-energy sports. The skill of finding feature photos and coming up with story ideas is a huge plus. Building on a proud tradition of exceptional photojournalism, our photo department expects every team member to deliver compelling visual narrative while upholding the highest ethical standards in both photographic practice and professional relationships.
We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience working at a newspaper. The candidate must be able to cover any shift (day shift, night shift, weekend shift), operate under strict deadlines, collaborate with reporters and editors to maintain high journalistic and ethical standards. We are looking for someone who is able to adapt to any situation, has quick decision-making under pressure, and strong interpersonal communication.
The candidate must have a valid driver's license.
The candidate must be capable of processing, editing, and captioning their photos using tools like Adobe Photoshop to meet deadlines.
They must adhere to strict photojournalistic integrity by capturing scenes honestly without altering the truth through digital manipulation.
