Description:
Freelance / Contract Political Analyst Track
LUMEN STRATEGIC MEDIA LTD
Remote / Fully Flexible Schedule
LUMEN STRATEGIC MEDIA LTD is seeking experienced journalists—independent freelancers and staff reporters at major outlets—who want to expand into rigorous political analysis. We produce high-quality journalism and analysis and are looking for reliable writers who can research, report, and deliver accurate, engaging work on deadline while developing sharper analytical skills. There is no cap on the fee per piece; compensation is competitive and determined by scope, complexity, depth of analysis, and quality. Schedules remain fully flexible to accommodate existing commitments.
Responsibilities
Research, report, and write original articles and political analysis pieces to professional standards
Conduct interviews and gather information from credible primary and secondary sources
Move beyond straight reporting into structured political analysis: identifying patterns, assessing implications, weighing competing narratives, and offering clear, evidence-based interpretation
Deliver clean, well-structured copy that requires minimal editing
Meet agreed deadlines while maintaining accuracy, fairness, and analytical rigor
Collaborate with editors on story development, framing, and revisions as needed
Ideal Candidates
Proven experience as a journalist, reporter, or staff writer (newspaper, digital, magazine, or broadcast background preferred)
Strong portfolio of published work demonstrating reporting skill and clear writing; interest in (or early experience with) political, policy, or geopolitical topics is a plus
Ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail, fact-checking, and source evaluation
Professional, reliable, and comfortable with flexible, project-based arrangements
Open to both pure freelancers and currently employed journalists seeking additional part-time or contract opportunities who want to grow into political-analyst roles
What This Track Offers
We deliberately structure assignments and editorial feedback to help strong journalists strengthen the skills that turn solid reporting into credible political analysis—contextualization, causal reasoning, comparative framing, and concise interpretation grounded in evidence. Work volume and analytical depth can increase over time according to your interest and performance.
Compensation & Arrangement
Competitive fees with no upper limit per article or analysis piece
Flexible schedule and volume—work as much or as little as suits you
Contract / freelance basis
