Social Media Coordinator
Full-Time • 40 Hours/Week
Compensation: Salary
commensurate with experience; 401K and health benefit eligibility in accordance

Position Overview
The Social Media Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the company’s
editorial, marketing, and event initiatives across all social platforms. This
position is responsible for executing and maintaining the day-to-day social
media content calendar; creating engaging, industry-relevant posts; monitoring
conversations among school bus drivers, technicians, transportation directors,
and vendors; and analyzing performance trends to guide future strategy. The
coordinator will work closely with the Senior/Managing Editor, marketing team,
and events staff to elevate brand visibility, drive website traffic, support
audience engagement, and help source editorial ideas from the national K–12
student transportation community.
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week hybrid/remote role requiring
attention to detail, self-organization, consistent coordination, content
production, analytics reporting, and active community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Content Planning & Calendar
Management (25%)
- Work with the Senior/Managing
Editor to build, maintain, and optimize a weekly and monthly cross-platform
content calendar for editorial, news, marketing, video, conference,
and sponsored content.
- Ensure all posts align with brand
standards, editorial priorities, marketing needs, event timelines,
advertiser commitments, and industry-relevant observances.
- Coordinate with editorial and
marketing teams to incorporate newsletters, webinars, podcasts, feature
stories, product releases, conference promotions, and breaking news into
the content schedule.
- Track upcoming stories, special
issues, deadlines, and event milestones to plan timely and relevant social
content.
- Identify potential news stories
and/or sources via social media channels.
Content Creation & Publishing
(35%)
- Develop high-quality, on-brand
social media posts using Canva and native platform tools (Reels,
Stories, Shorts, TikTok posts, etc.).
- Create variations of posts
tailored and optimized to each platform’s best practices:
YouTube, Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, Threads and BlueSky. - Identify and prioritize content
for video.
- Create event news articles for
posting and promoting on social media channels and STNOnline.com.
- Maintain consistent posting
frequency appropriate for each channel (multiple posts per day on
X/Twitter; daily posts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn; weekly+ uploads
on YouTube/Tik Tok; etc.).
- Write clear, engaging captions
optimized for each platform’s tone and audience.
- Create video content and
graphics to be used across channels for awareness, education, engagement.
- Implement an effective hashtag
strategy, including industry-specific and trending tags for each
social channel to supplement and enhance SEO.
- Record, edit and post videos of
company conferences and industry events.
- Work
with Senior/Managing Editor to ensure accuracy and quality of posts
through internal QC checks.
Community Engagement & Industry
Listening (15%)
- Monitor discussions and trends
within Facebook groups, LinkedIn communities, X/Twitter lists, Threads, BlueSky
feeds, and other online spaces frequented by:
- School bus drivers
- Technicians and maintenance
staff
- Fleet managers
- Transportation directors
- Industry vendors and
associations
- Identify story leads, recurring
challenges, user-generated content, and potential interview subjects to
share with the editorial team.
- Actively engage with comments,
mentions, and messages across platforms to nurture audience relationships
and support brand credibility.
- Work
with senior/managing editor on how to respond to specific and direct social
comments.
- Repost and interact with
appropriate industry content across STN social media channels.
- Stay up to date on emerging
topics such as electrification, training, safety technology, compliance,
fleet maintenance, routing, and operational best practices.
- Bring innovative insights and
recommendations to ensure social media channels remain modern and relevant.
Analytics,
Reporting & Strategy (15%)
- Track performance metrics and
engagement trends across all platforms using native analytics and internal
reporting tools.
- Create weekly and monthly
analytics summaries with insights and recommendations for the editorial,
marketing, and leadership teams.
- Monitor and report on:
- Impressions and reach
- Engagement rate
- Follower growth
- YouTube watch time and retention
- Platform-specific content
performance
- Traffic referrals to the website
and videos
- Analyze what types of posts
resonate most with the K–12 transportation audience and propose
data-driven content optimizations.
Cross-Department Collaboration &
Support (10%)
- Work with the editorial team to
support story promotion, breaking news dissemination, and multimedia
distribution.
- Support the marketing/events team
for conferences (TSD, STN EXPO West, STN EXPO East) with promotional and on-site
social and website coverage.
- Propose
and execute additional coordination projects (e.g., series planning,
influencer outreach, vertical-specific campaigns).
- Assist in managing digital
assets, marketing collateral, and curated video clips for cross-platform
use.
- Gather community comments for Conversations
magazine page.
- Create galleries and multimedia
posts as needed for stnonline.com
Skills & Qualifications
- 1–3 years of professional
experience in social media coordination, digital marketing, or content
production (B2B or niche editorial experience preferred).
- Strong writing and editing
skills, with the ability to translate technical or industry content into
approachable social posts.
- Comfortability in front of and
behind the camera
- Proficiency
with Canva; familiarity with CapCut, Adobe Express or the Adobe suite is a
plus.
- Experience with YouTube Studio,
Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, X/Twitter media tools,
TikTok Creator tools, and emerging platforms.
- Proficiency
with short-form video editing; ability to edit and create simple cuts, text
overlays and other video components
- Understanding
SEO, social content trends, and audience engagement best practices.
- Comfortable engaging with highly
specialized professional communities.
- Strong organizational skills and
ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with education,
transportation, fleet, or safety sectors is a plus.
- Ability to monitor social
channels during occasional evenings, weekends, or events when major
industry news breaks or conferences occur.

Working Conditions

with flexibility during peak editorial periods or live events.
- Hybrid or remote eligible.
- 10%
travel is required for conference or event coverage and consisting of
evening and weekend work.
