Description:
Are you passionate about community journalism and watchdog coverage of town, city and state institutions? Want to work in the state that defines direct democracy and has the first-in-the-nation presidential primary?
The independently owned New Hampshire Union Leader wants you to be our next full-time journalist.
Here’s the deal, you need to be committed to writing honest-to-goodness human stories. This isn’t journalism camp, it’s New Hampshire, the most fertile ground for true shoe-leather journalism you’ll ever find.
If you like rewriting press releases, look elsewhere because that’s just not us.
But, if you thrive in a fast-paced, collegial and collaborative newsroom, and get up every day inspired to interact, interview and document what’s going on for real people, hit us up. Immediately.
We’re looking for:
- at least one year of daily reporting experience post-college – hard news AND features
- the ability to develop sources and generate great story ideas tailored to our audience
- experience with investigative and enterprise features
- news photography skills
It’s a bonus if you also have pagination and/or digital skills.
Responsibilities include digital first and daily print news coverage. The schedule will likely include Sunday shifts and holidays. This is not a remote position.
Competitive salary and benefits.
Email resume and cover letter to Editor in Chief Melanie Hitchcock (mhitchcock@unionleader.com). We will start reviewing applications on Monday, July 27.
