Description:
Break news. Build
audience. Make an impact.
The
Sheboygan Sun, part of O’Rourke Media Group, is hiring an ambitious Digital
Reporter who wants to help redefine local journalism.
This
is not a traditional newspaper reporting position.
We’re
looking for a journalist who enjoys chasing breaking news, uncovering stories
that matter, producing engaging multimedia content, and growing audience across
digital platforms. Success in this role is measured not only by outstanding
journalism, but by your ability to connect with readers where they consume news
today—online, on social media, through newsletters, and on mobile devices.
If
you’re competitive, curious, and energized by building an audience, we want to
hear from you.
What You’ll Do
·
Report on breaking news, local government,
business, education, public safety, sports, and community events.
·
Produce timely, accurate, and engaging stories
for SheboyganSun.com.
·
Develop enterprise stories that generate
conversation and community engagement.
·
Capture photos and short-form video to enhance
digital storytelling.
·
Publish content quickly across digital platforms
while maintaining high journalistic standards.
·
Promote stories through social media,
newsletters, and other audience channels.
·
Build relationships with local officials,
businesses, schools, nonprofits, and community leaders.
·
Use analytics to understand reader interests and
help shape future coverage.
·
Help grow website traffic, newsletter
subscribers, social media engagement, and overall digital audience.
What We’re Looking For
·
Strong reporting, interviewing, and writing
skills.
·
A passion for breaking news and community
journalism.
·
Someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced
digital environment.
·
Ability to identify stories that readers care
about and share.
·
Experience creating photo and video content is a
plus.
·
Familiarity with social media platforms and
digital publishing tools.
·
Strong organizational skills and the ability to
manage multiple assignments.
·
Valid driver’s license and reliable
transportation.
What Success Looks Like
You’ll
help make the Sheboygan Sun the community’s first choice for local news by:
·
Breaking important stories ahead of the
competition.
·
Producing impactful journalism that informs and
engages readers.
·
Growing website traffic and reader engagement.
·
Increasing newsletter subscriptions and
returning visitors.
·
Expanding our reach across social media and
digital platforms.
·
Building trusted relationships throughout the
community.
