Description:

70 Faces Media, the largest Jewish media organization in North America, is looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial Director of News Partnerships and Engagement to spearhead new initiatives aimed at deepening the relationship Jewish news consumers enjoy with our own signature news publications and our syndication partners across the country.

Through our flagship international news service, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA), we have supported dozens of local newspapers for more than a century by providing national and international news reporting. We are now expanding our mission through the launch of the Local Media Growth Initiative (LMGI), an effort to help local Jewish media outlets strengthen their journalism, expand digital reach, and build sustainable business models that serve and connect their communities. This initiative will support a high-priority cohort of 5-8 local Jewish publications and lay the groundwork for an ongoing national–local partnership model.

As the Director of News Partnerships and Engagement, you will manage all LMGI program activities, including organizing professional development offerings and the development and rollout of new editorial, audience development and revenue-sharing products. You will also oversee an audience associate as part of an LMGI pilot program, providing direct operational support to 3-4 participating publications. You will also track outcomes, gather insights, and work with organizational leadership to build a long-term plan for sustaining this work beyond the initial pilot period.

The other key part of your job will be implementing an enhanced online fundraising strategy for our own news properties, and leveraging that work to support the fundraising work of the LMGI.

Your Ongoing Responsibilities:

Lead the implementation of the two-year Local Media Growth Initiative:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for 45+ local Jewish media partners, with intensive engagement with LMGI participants
  • Build trusted, collaborative relationships with key staff at participating LMGI publications
  • Lead implementation of “Jewish News Membership” program for pilot cohort of LMGI participants
  • Support the rollout of potential new syndication content tiers, white-labeled content offerings, and revenue-sharing products that leverage existing 70FM initiatives
  • Oversee audience associate providing direct support to 3-4 LMGI participants
  • Execute rollout of annual turnkey user survey for select syndication partners; work with key 70FM team to analyze results and help partners translate insights into action
  • Organize periodic online professional development sessions for syndication partners covering a range of topics, as well as a special media track at the annual Jewish Digital Summit
  • Partner closely with 70 Faces Media leadership, editorial, revenue, marketing, audience and technology teams to leverage internal expertise for local partners
  • Work closely with CEO and other key leaders to translate learnings from LMGI into a sustainable model for expanded support for key clients beyond the grant term
Lead engagement and fundraising efforts for our internal news initiatives:
  • Develop and execute online fundraising campaigns, including seasonal campaigns, recurring giving programs, lapsed donor campaigns, and special appeals
  • Create a series of online news discussions, live journalism events, exclusive experiences and more aimed at attracting donors and increasing their engagement
  • Design and implement testing plans to optimize revenue from fundraising campaigns, including email subject lines and copy, fundraising page copy and design, image use, and more
  • Additional fundraising and engagement projects as needed

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in digital engagement, preferably with a focus on email marketing
  • Strong project management, communication and customer service skills
  • Emotional intelligence needed to work effectively with external clients and lead cross-functional efforts across teams
  • Skilled at using data to measure success and gain actionable insights
  • Comfort with AI tools and enthusiasm for testing new technologies
