The Palatka Daily News, a locally owned community newspaper
with a history spanning more than 140 years, is seeking an energetic, curious
and community-minded Reporter / Multimedia Journalist to join our newsroom.

Position Overview
The Reporter / Multimedia Journalist will cover local
government, public safety, education, business, community events and feature
stories throughout Putnam County. We are looking for someone who understands
the importance of local journalism and enjoys building relationships within the
community.
This is more than a traditional reporting position. The
successful candidate will help create content across multiple platforms and
experiment with new forms of storytelling as the industry continues to evolve.
Responsibilities
- Research, report and write accurate, compelling news and feature stories
- Attend and cover government meetings, community events and breaking news
- Develop sources and maintain strong relationships throughout the community
- Produce content for print, web, social media and emerging digital platforms
- Capture high-quality photographs to accompany stories
- Shoot and edit video for online and social media distribution
- Create engaging multimedia content, including short-form videos and digital storytelling projects
- Contribute story ideas and participate in newsroom planning
- Meet deadlines in a fast-paced news environment
- Uphold the highest standards of journalistic ethics and accuracy
Qualifications
- Strong reporting, writing and interviewing skills
- Photography experience and photo editing skills
- Video shooting and editing experience
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital publishing tools
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of AP Style
