Managing Editor \(Part\-Time\) — Saturday Review

Saturday Review is seeking a thoughtful, energetic, and well-organized Managing Editor to help guide both our online and print editorial operations.

This is a part-time position ideal for an editor with experience working on literary, cultural, intellectual, or public affairs publications who is interested in helping shape a serious and engaging magazine with a distinguished legacy.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience editing an online and/or print journal, magazine, or similar publication
• Possess strong editorial judgment and organizational skills
• Be familiar with the history, mission, and general editorial sensibility of Saturday Review
• Be comfortable working with writers and helping develop ideas into publishable pieces
• Have the ability to identify, recruit, and cultivate contributors
• Be able to coordinate editorial schedules and assist in managing publication workflow
• Work collaboratively with leadership on editorial direction and strategy

Experience in journalism, magazine publishing, literary publishing, cultural criticism, public affairs, or related fields is preferred.

This role may include:

• Editing essays, articles, interviews, and reviews
• Soliciting and managing contributors
• Assisting with print and digital production schedules
• Helping expand the magazine’s network of writers and readers
• Contributing ideas for themes, features, and editorial initiatives

Saturday Review’s publisher is Dr. Milton Grin. The founding editor is Jamie Metzl, and the executive editor is Dr. Mark Maslan.
