Description:
Are you a creative, hard worker inspired by the opportunity to fuse a documentary aesthetic with journalistic ethics? Access Framingham is seeking a dynamic Visual Journalist to join a media-first, award-winning non-profit local news program, The Frame. This multidimensional position works alongside the News Supervisor to directly engage with the community in telling authentic stories, news reporting, and spotlighting local voices. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Executive Director. Some evening and weekend work is required.
DUTIES
End-to-end production of short news stories in horizontal and vertical formats
Lead on field productions, such as documentary-style and person-on-the-street
Provide on-the-ground interviews and interact with the community to source stories
Support in the production of studio broadcasts and podcasts
Repackage and recirculate content for social and produce social-first pieces
Serve as on-air talent when appropriate
Collaborate on short and long-term story assignments
Incorporate other modalities such as explainers, data visualizations, and text-based motion graphics as needed
Work with the senior staff to comply with production workflows, protocols, and procedures
Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS & DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or bachelor’s degree in journalism, filmmaking, communications, or related field. A high school diploma or equivalent may be considered with relevant experience
3+ years of combined experience in video content creation
A firm commitment to journalism standards and practices
Demonstrable professional experience producing news, documentary-style, educational, or other scripted video and audio projects
Outgoing personality and capacity to meaningfully engage with a diverse population
Expert-level proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Illustrator)
Some experience developing storyboards and writing scripts
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior leaders; ability to pitch a project idea and/or discuss a project scope with senior leaders
Portuguese or Spanish language proficiency a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a valid Massachusetts driver's license and use of your vehicle
Work will require off-site video productions, including setup and breakdown
Must be able to lift and move 40 lbs when needed
Compensation: $46,000 - $52,000 commensurate with experience
