Description:

GCSAA is seeking a strategic and creative leader to direct the editorial vision, content strategy and overall performance of its Publications department. This role leads Golf Course Management (GCM) as a multi-platform media brand across print, digital, social and emerging channels, ensuring high-quality content that drives audience growth, engagement and revenue.

The Director of Publications oversees editorial staff and collaborates closely with creative services and the broader Marketing & Communications team to produce GCM magazine and its related platforms. This position is responsible for the integrity, innovation and growth of all revenue-generating publications, including content development, audience strategy, production and team leadership.

Qualified candidates possess:

         Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills with strong editorial judgment

·       Proven ability to develop and execute multi-platform content strategies that drive engagement and revenue

·       Strong leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor and manage high-performing teams

·       Experience managing editorial calendars, production workflows and publication budgets

·       Ability to analyze audience data, trends and engagement metrics to inform strategy

·       Strong project management, organizational and problem-solving skills

·       Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, contributors and industry professionals

·       Knowledge of magazine production processes, including layout, printing and prepress

·       Innovative mindset with the ability to adapt to evolving media landscapes and technologies

·       Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communications or related field, or equivalent experience

·       Seven to ten (7–10) years of progressive experience in editorial, publishing or media roles, including leadership responsibilities

·       Strong digital publishing experience with a track record of growing audiences and developing content-driven revenue streams

·       Experience working with media professionals, contributors and editorial boards

·       Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with publishing and content management systems

·       Knowledge of golf, agronomy or turfgrass management preferred

·       Ability to travel up to 20%, including weekends and overnight stays

·       Position will work from Lawrence, KS HQ office; will consider candidates willing to relocate

Salary range is $90,000 - $110,000/annually.
