The Saturday Review — Revival Launch

Remote | Kansas City or New York preferred

The Saturday Review is back.

One of America’s great magazines — founded in 1924, home to Norman Cousins, Bennett Cerf, and some of the finest ideas journalism of the 20th century — is being relaunched as a quarterly print and digital publication. Issue No. 1 is in production.

This is a part-time, remote role (8–10 hours/week) for a writer, editor, or journalism professional who loves ideas, works independently, and wants to be part of something with real history behind it.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

— Research and fact-check articles on longevity, science, culture, and the future

— Light copy editing and proofreading

— Source images, archive materials, and public domain art

— Assist with contributor outreach and editorial correspondence

— Help organize issue structure, timelines, and editorial calendar

— Occasional in-person meetings (Kansas City or New York)

WHO YOU ARE

— Strong writer with an editor’s eye

— Comfortable working across science, medicine, culture, and ideas

— Self-directed — you figure things out without being managed

— Curious about longevity, AI, the future, or long-form journalism

Based in or able to travel occasionally to Kansas City or New York

— An appreciation for magazine history is a genuine plus

COMPENSATION

$500–$700/month, commensurate with experience

Byline and masthead credit in a publication with a 100-year legacy

The Saturday Review is coming back.

For those who don’t know the history — the Saturday Review was one of America’s great magazines. Founded in 1924. Home to Norman Cousins, Bennett Cerf, and some of the sharpest ideas journalism of the 20th century. My father was its publisher.

I’m bringing it back. Quarterly. Print and digital. Focused on longevity, science, culture, and the future.

I’m looking for a part-time editorial assistant — 8 to 10 hours a week, remote — to help get it out the door. A strong writer with an editor’s eye who works independently and cares about ideas.

If that’s you, or you know someone, link in comments or DM me directly.

This one’s personal.
