Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Executive Editor to lead our newsroom operations across multiple publications. This role requires a strong editorial leader who can balance journalistic excellence with digital innovation, audience growth, and operational efficiency. The Executive Editor will oversee content strategy, staff development, and newsroom culture while ensuring our publications remain essential sources of local news.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage editorial teams across multiple publications, ensuring consistent quality and voice
- Develop and execute a cohesive content strategy across print and digital platforms
- Drive audience growth through digital engagement, newsletters, and social media
- Maintain high standards of journalistic integrity, accuracy, and ethics
- Collaborate with leadership on organizational strategy and innovation initiatives
- Mentor and develop editors, reporters, and contributors
- Oversee coverage planning including breaking news, enterprise reporting, and community features
- Ensure efficient newsroom workflows and deadlines across all publications
- Partner with advertising and business teams while maintaining editorial independence
Qualifications
- Minimum 7–10 years of newsroom experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong editing, reporting, and storytelling skills across multiple platforms
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple publications or complex operations
- Deep understanding of digital media, analytics, and audience engagement strategies
- Experience with CMS platforms and newsletter/email strategies preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
- Commitment to local journalism and community impact
