Description:
Reporter, Community Advocate Newspaper
The Community Advocate Newspaper – a well-respected newspaper with a 50-year legacy covering the vibrant communities of Shrewsbury, Westborough, Northborough, Southborough, Marlborough, Grafton, and Hudson – is seeking an experienced reporter. Our independently-owned newspaper has the largest print circulation in the Central Massachusetts communities we serve, and we maintain a content-rich website. In an era when major news organizations are faltering, we are doubling down, producing more high-quality, hyperlocal content than any other local source.
Candidates in this role will be responsible for providing extensive coverage of two of our towns, becoming embedded in the community, developing sources, and always having their finger on the pulse of current events. Candidates should have excellent news judgment, newsgathering skills, and an ability to generate stories our audience will be passionate about.
This is a full-time role with flexible hours. The job requires producing content daily in a variety of formats: A strong work ethic is a must.
The candidate should have:
A minimum of two (2) years of professional reporting experience
The ability to commute easily to our Westborough office, or the willingness to relocate quickly (by July 1)
The ability to be a valuable part of an ambitious team
If interested, please submit:
A cover letter
Your resume
Three (3) or more writing samples, with a variety of different types of reporting
Applications close on May 15.
Candidates will be notified if they are finalists by May 22.
