Questex is seeking a sharp, curious and ambitious journalist to join Fierce Pharma Marketing as a Staff Writer.
We are looking for a journalist to deliver daily news and a steady flow of features that put the news in context for our readers. This role will focus on covering the strategies, campaigns, technologies and trends shaping how pharma companies engage with patients, providers and the broader healthcare ecosystem.
The ideal candidate is eager to build sources, break news and dig into the why and how behind the day’s biggest developments. Our readers are sophisticated and deeply informed, and they look to Fierce for reporting, insight and perspective they cannot get anywhere else. This reporter should be excited to cover the intersection of pharma, marketing, media, data and patient engagement—and how those forces are reshaping the industry.
This person will also have a strong commitment to editorial quality and ethics, a passion for deeply reported journalism and the drive to grow into a trusted voice on their beat. Just as importantly, this role requires someone comfortable representing Fierce publicly—on camera, on stage and across social platforms.
As our Staff Writer, you’ll support Fierce Pharma Marketing's success by:
- Writing daily news stories and longer-form features for Fierce Pharma Marketing.
- Developing a beat and building a strong network of sources across pharma, marketing, advertising, media, agencies and technology.
- Covering major industry trends, brand strategy, campaign performance, data and analytics, patient engagement and regulatory considerations.
- Brainstorming and delivering features that help Fierce engage and grow its audience of pharma marketing professionals.
- Collaborating with editors and reporters across the newsroom on major stories and special projects.
- Contributing to podcasts, newsletters and live event coverage.
- Representing Fierce Pharma Marketing at industry events, including moderating panels, conducting on-stage interviews and participating in video coverage.
- Creating or contributing to audio and video content, including podcasts and short-form video.
- Actively engaging on social media to promote stories, connect with sources and grow Fierce Pharma Marketing’s audience and voice.
- Traveling occasionally to cover major industry conferences and events.
What we will love about your background:
- Minimum one year of newsroom experience required, with a preference for candidates who have covered pharma, healthcare or another complex, regulated industry.
- Degree in journalism or a related, writing-intensive field.
- Strong writing and reporting skills, with knowledge of AP style.
- Demonstrated ability to report quickly, accurately and with nuance.
- Interest in or familiarity with pharma marketing, advertising, media or digital engagement trends.
- Comfort reading regulatory materials and other industry documents.
- Experience with multimedia storytelling, including podcasting, video or on-camera work.
- Comfort speaking publicly, including moderating panels or participating in live or recorded discussions.
- An understanding of how to use social media as a reporting and audience growth tool.
- A collaborative mindset, strong news judgment and enthusiasm for building expertise over time.
