Description:

BoiseDev is looking for a talented journalist who is eager to focus on enterprise and investigative reporting.

We’ve grown quickly, adding talented journalists from backgrounds including television, traditional print, and digital. This position will join our existing team of 9 journalists. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for enterprise and investigative journalism, with a drive to uncover impactful, original stories that uncover how decisions are made and who they affect across the Treasure Valley and Idaho.

Duties include helping to drive BoiseDev and Valley Lookout’s market-leading enterprise and investigative stories. Includes an array of topics from housing and homelessness to challenges with development/growth to municipal politics and more. Each of our reporters works both independently and in a team — meaning we are looking for someone who can balance solo and collaborative working styles. We aspire to deliver deeply reported, fact-based, and authoritative coverage that goes beyond daily headlines — holding institutions accountable and helping readers understand the real-world implications of public policy.

The candidate will identify and pursue high-impact stories, analyze legislation and public records, and develop sources across government, business, and the community. This reporter will work closely with our editorial team to shape coverage priorities, elevate watchdog reporting, and set the tone for ambitious, accountability-driven journalism that serves the Treasure Valley and the state at large.

BoiseDev is the only locally owned commercial news outlet in SW Idaho, and operates a collection of interlocking businesses, including BoiseDev.com, morning newsletter BoiseDev AM, weekly food newsletter BoiseDev Eats, and events business BoiseDev Presents. It is a family-owned business that focuses on serving its community and fostering well-rounded employees both inside and outside of work. We look for people who are interested in producing work that puts facts at the forefront and building news products that put readers first.

The selected candidate must have at least three years of daily reporting experience.

We provide a work-from-home stipend, 401(k) match, health benefits, and a generous time-off policy that includes 14 company holidays (including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day) and additional paid time off.

The compensation range for this position is $58,000 - $60,000/year.
