Description:

The Valley News has an opening for a 12-month, paid internship.

No previous professional journalism experience is required, but you should be able to show a demonstrated interest in writing and provide samples of your work relevant to the position. If you’re interested but are concerned that you may not have relevant writing samples, reach out. We also have freelance opportunities available.

The role is a general assignment reporting position that will cover the full breadth of the Upper Valley. You could find yourself in a courtroom, classroom, public meeting room, or at a fire scene. There will be opportunities to write feature articles and also to work on in-depth stories that require extensive reporting. You’ll be counted on to be an important contributor to our newsroom.

That being said, we can assure you that you’ll have the support and mentorship you need to be successful in the role. The Valley News is fortunate to have experienced editors who can provide guidance to new reporters as they develop their skills.

If you would like to be considered for the Valley News internship, please send a cover letter, resume and writing samples to Editor Matt Clary at mclary@vnews.com. Please include the word INTERNSHIP in the subject line.

When applying, mention you saw this opening listed at JournalismJobs.com.
