PHOTOJOURNALIST
The Advocate – part of the largest news organization in
Louisiana -- is seeking a photojournalist for its Baton Rouge newsroom to cover
everything from breaking crime news and sports to food and politics. We’re
looking for someone to join our team of experienced photographers to provide
photo and video coverage of south Louisiana for our newspapers, websites and
social media channels.
Job Responsibilities
· Cover
news visually through photos and video
· Create
relationships with members of the community to develop sources
· Quickly
post videos and photos online as appropriate
· Use
social media and other digital tools to enhance and distribute visual reporting
· Regularly
review metrics on digital photo packages and video performance
· Meet all
deadlines as requested by editors
Job Skills & Qualifications
· Ability
to work nights, weekends and holidays
· A focus
on producing meaningful and truthful visual coverage of the community
· Experience
as a news photographer or intern
· Proficiency
with digital publishing tools, including a web CMS
