The Butler Eagle is seeking a news editor to lead and manage a talented team that works daily to cover the communities and schools across Butler County, which is located just north of Pittsburgh. 

The person who fills this position will be tasked with planning and managing the production of daily content for a six-day a week print newspaper, an ever-present website and intentional social media calendar. 

To produce this content, the news editor oversees six news reporters and freelancers as needed while collaborating with photographers, social media specialists, graphic designers and other editors. 

The content produced by this team aims to strike a balance between fast-paced breaking news and thoughtful enterprise reporting specific to the issues our communities face. 

Candidates should have at least three years of editorial management experience, quality news judgment, temperament to supervise and motivate reporters and the ability to edit quickly while maintaining the newsroom's standards.

This editor may also play a role in writing editorials, assist in preparing special sections, leading special projects, preparing content for the weekly Cranberry Eagle publication.  

The Butler Eagle is a family-owned, community newspaper.
