Description:
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has an opening for a business reporter to join our team in Little Rock.
This reporter would cover:
- Economic development initiatives throughout Arkansas, including job creation, investment, and infrastructure projects, and their effects on local communities.
- Arkansas' public banks and other financial institutions, including breaking news and in-depth stories about the industry.
- Local business, from startups to established businesses.
- A qualified applicant will have experience in reporting on financial institutions, regulatory bodies or economic development as well as strong analytical and investigative skills.
The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial data and policy documents, translate complex information into clear and engaging stories, meet deadlines and work effectively in a breaking news environment; and experience with digital media and social media platforms.
A reporter in this position should have at least three years’ experience covering business. This reporter also should know how to use a spreadsheet, develop sources and interview people, including in person. The reporter will work out of the Democrat-Gazette’s Little Rock office.
A bachelor’s degree in journalism is preferred but relevant experience and education is acceptable.
