Description:
Job Title: Editorial Intern for WriteBooksRight
This job is a nonpaid internship. The
expected time commitment is about 8-10 hours per week, beginning now and
lasting for a year or longer. Most time, the job will be remote, but a few
times per month, visits to the Bethesda, Maryland, office will be required.
About the Role:
We are seeking a sharp, creative, and detail-oriented intern to support our
boutique book-editing business. Most of the books involve issues of social
justice and equity (both fiction and nonfiction). You’ll gain hands-on
experience in both the technical side of publishing and the marketing
strategies required to launch successful titles.
Key Responsibilities:

Social media & promotion: Develop and schedule engaging content across platforms to boost author
visibility.
·
Update websites and social media sites.
·
Video creation: Produce short-form video content.
·
Editorial support: Conduct precise proofreading with a heavy focus on APA 7th Edition
formatting
·
Academic formatting: Assist in the creation and organization of complex bibliographies and
reference lists
·
Develop (Reels/TikToks) for book trailers, educational tips, and
behind-the-scenes updates.
·
Administrative tasks: General support to keep editorial projects on track.
Qualifications:
·
Love of reading and appreciation for the written word: Passion for literature and clear
writing.
·
Highly articulate: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
·
Detail-oriented: Ability to spot typos, formatting inconsistencies, and grammar issues—both
with and without AI.
·
Respect for privacy: Nondisclosure of the material.
·
Preferred APA Expert: Strong familiarity with (or a quick ability to master) APA 7th Style
guidelines
·
Creative flair: Experience with basic video editing tools and social media trends.
·
Self-starter: Ability to manage deadlines independently in a fast-paced environment.
