Coordinator-Omaha World-Herald
The Omaha World-Herald seeks an ambitious, innovative content creator and newsroom leader to coordinate the newsroom’s digital sports offering.
This is a key leadership role for our nationally recognized sports staff, and one of the signature roles in our newsroom. Sports coverage is at the heart of what we do at The World-Herald, and the heart of what people care about in Nebraska.
Nebraska is home to the most passionate college sports fans in the country, and University of Nebraska and Creighton University athletics are at the core of our coverage mission. The state is also home to a vibrant preps scene, top-level professional volleyball, and a thriving recreational sports scene that includes some of the best golf courses in the country.
We have a digital-first newsroom that aims to meet readers’ and viewers’ constantly evolving needs. The digital sports coordinator will play a key role in shaping our next phase of growth
The ideal candidate will have:

At least three years of experience as a sports
reporter, editor, or digital producer
·
A proven track record delivering or facilitating
a high volume of high-quality coverage
·
A proven track record of engaging with fans and
readers on social media
·
A proven track record writing engaging,
clickable, accurate web headlines
·
Comfort talking in front of a microphone or
camera in various capacities
·
Comfort working with digital audience metrics
· A relentless desire to innovate, experiment, and help chart the newsroom’s next phase of digital growth
The digital sports coordinator will be accountable for the newsroom’s sports performance and empowered to drive growth in various ways. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with other staffers and creating their own content on multiple platforms, with a mix of text-based content, audio/video content, reader interactives, and whatever comes next.
