Description:
The opportunity
Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting’s digital team is hiring a
digital producer to elevate and amplify the work of WESA and WYEP through our
websites, newsletters, social media, photography/videography and original
reporting.
Responsibilities
- Copy
edit digital stories by reporters, producers and editors, following AP/NPR
style
- Assist
editors and reporters in writing web-, SEO-, and social-friendly headlines
and visual presentation of stories
- Produce
newsletters
- Leverage
web analytics to understand and promote trending stories
- Take
photographs and videos for station stories
- Report
breaking news stories for web and broadcast
- Promote
our work on social media
- Work
with NPR Digital Services to resolve bugs/outages
- Be
willing to work during off hours and weekends as needed
- Participate
in on-air and online fundraising as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong
writing and copy-editing skills
- Strong
digital and social media skills
- Sound and ethical news judgment
- Strong knowledge of current events
- Photography,
videography and data visualization skills are a plus
- Ability
to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Ability
to travel throughout the region and work flexible hours when necessary
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s
degree in journalism-related field or equivalent experience / training
- One or more years of digital reporting/producing in a professional newsroom
- General understanding of various coding, HTML, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services
- Experience covering Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania is a plus
- Passion for music and news
- Honesty and integrity in all dealings
- Enthusiasm for the missions of PCBC and its stations

compensation packages are generous. We provide competitive salaries in an affordable
city. The minimum compensation for this position is $51,000, commensurate
with experience and ability. Our full-time exempt employees also get access to

holidays and 12 weeks of paid new parent leave. We invest in the professional
