Job description: 

Local Daily Media seeks a driven, innovative Managing Digital Editor to lead our newsroom in Williamsburg, Virginia. 

Our editors are talented journalists who inspire their newsrooms, engage their audience and connect with their community. They’re experienced in growing a digital readership, producing multimedia content and guiding enterprise stories. 

Responsibilities

 ● Oversee daily news operations on all content channels 

● Assign and edit stories, demonstrating a strong commitment to local news and multimedia reporting 

● Produce daily content, news reports and other stories to supplement staff coverage 

● Motivate and educate news reporting team 

● Strategize and manage social media efforts 

● Incorporate insights gleaned from web and social media analytics, to help gauge scoop and tackle deeper dives 

● Adhere to and enforce SEO best practices 

● Devise new ideas and editorial products that helps WYDaily grow 

Qualities & qualifications 

● Exceptional writing and editing skills 

● Excellent news judgment, including hard news, government reporting and lighter news 

● Engaged in the constant evolution of digital engagement 

● Irreproachable journalistic ethics 

● Passion for local news
