Description:
The Augusta Press, a feisty, five-year old digital daily, seeks an experienced education reporter to cover two local school systems as well as several private schools and two local colleges (one private HBCU and one state university with a medical school). Job includes covering school board and board committee meetings, activities at schools, state and federal policies that affect local schools, and other stories as relevant. Investigative experience is a plus as is photography and ability to create video/audio stories. Some weekend and general assignments are also part of this job. Salary is negotiable. Our reporters work from home. Bachelor's degree in journalism or related degree required.
The Augusta Press is located in Augusta, Ga., home of the Master's golf tournament. It is a hidden-gem on the banks of the Savannah River that offers many big-city amenities. Augusta offers a significantly lower cost of living (approximately 15 percent lower than the national average, which housing prices 32 percent lower than the national average), short commutes, and a booming tech industry.
