Description:

The Daily Journal, an award-winning daily newspaper in south-central Indiana, is looking for a Full-Time Reporter to fill a position available immediately in our Franklin newsroom. One or two years of experience with a media organization is preferred, but recent journalism graduates with strong clips are urged to apply.

The Daily Journal is a five-day daily covering Franklin and Johnson County, Indiana and the southside of Indianapolis. Daily Journal has been named Indiana's best daily by the Hoosier State Press Association four times in the past decade, most recently in 2025.

This position includes coverage of town government, small businesses and economic development. Applicants are expected to be available to work nights and weekends when their assigned beat demands it and to take their own photos and video.

Applicants are expected to be familiar with social media platforms including Facebook, X and Instagram. Experience with photography is a must, experience with video and podcasting is a plus.

The Daily Journal offers competitive hourly wages and benefits. Being based in downtown Franklin also comes with many benefits for employees, including access to great lunch spots, coffee shops, parks and trails.

Send a resume, at least three clips and a list of three references to Daily Journal Editor Leeann Doerflein at ldoerflein@dailyjournal.net.
