Description:

Corporate Compliance Insights, an independent media company covering politics, business, corporate compliance, risk, governance and management topics, seeks a talented, growth-minded contributing editor for a part-time, remote, contract position.

Tasks could include, though are not limited to:

  • Copy editing (including proofreading for AP and house style and doing developmental editing), fact checking, headline writing
  • Evaluating articles contributed by thought leaders in our industry for newsworthiness and relevance to our audience
  • Preparing material for publication to WordPress, including adding internal links and scheduling posts in WordPress
  • Writing news briefs, including summaries of survey reports and business/GRC industry news, which may involve conducting interviews with business executives and subject matter experts
  • Monitoring email inboxes for relevant business news, survey reports or contributed articles
  • Communication with other team members, both synchronous and asynchronous

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 3-5 years of newsroom experience (remote is OK)
  • Skill and experience in reporting, writing and/or editing for a legal/regulatory, corporate compliance, risk or governance-adjacent audience
  • Interest in the subject matter or willingness to develop that interest
  • A curious mind and comfortability with learning new tools and tasks
  • Good time-management skills 

Nice to have, but not deal-breakers:

  • Experience in or willingness to learn multimedia production, including podcasts and webinars
  • Experience with the Google and Microsoft suites, WordPress, Asana, Basecamp, HubSpot, Canva, Adobe, Shutterstock and Unsplash
  • Central or Eastern US time zone availability 

Expected hourly range: $35-$50

Expected weekly hours: 12-15
