About In-House Connect
In-House Connect (IHC) is the largest free community for in-house legal professionals, with 40,000+ subscribers and a growing national presence through webinars, networking mixers, in-person CLEs, and sponsored programming. We connect in-house counsel with each other and with the law firms and legal vendors that serve them — all at no cost to in-house teams.
We’re launching a Resource Center — a curated content hub that will become the go-to destination for in-house counsel looking for practical insights, expert perspectives, and useful tools. This role will help build it from the ground up.
The Role
This is a content-first role at a community-driven organization. You’ll be the editorial voice behind the IHC Resource Center — writing original articles, curating expert contributions, producing Q&As with in-house leaders and law firm partners, developing practical guides, and managing sponsored content that feels valuable rather than promotional. You’re not writing in a vacuum; everything you create serves a community of 40,000+ legal professionals who rely on IHC for resources they can’t get anywhere else.
You’ll work directly with the CEO to shape the editorial direction and content strategy. This is a build-from-scratch opportunity — you’ll define the voice, set the publishing cadence, and create the content categories that make the Resource Center essential reading for in-house teams.
What You’ll Own
Member Interviews & Profiles
• Interview in-house counsel, GCs, and legal ops leaders across industries to capture their stories, challenges, and career insights
• Produce compelling Q&A-style features and written profiles that spotlight members of the IHC community
• Build and maintain a pipeline of interview subjects — proactively identifying interesting voices in the community, not waiting for them to come to you
Case Studies
• Develop case studies that showcase how in-house teams are solving real problems — legal ops transformations, technology implementations, outside counsel management, compliance programs
• Work with sponsors to produce co-branded case studies that highlight their solutions in action while delivering genuine value to readers
• Ensure case studies are practical and specific, not generic marketing fluff — our audience wants to learn what actually worked and what didn’t
Event Recaps
• Attend (virtually or in person) IHC webinars, CLEs, and networking mixers and produce written recaps that capture key takeaways, themes, and highlights
• Turn event content into evergreen resources — a 60-minute webinar becomes a digestible article, a CLE panel becomes actionable bullet points
• Photograph or coordinate visuals from in-person events for use in recaps and social promotion
Sponsor Highlights
• Create sponsor spotlight content that introduces our audience to the law firms, legal tech companies, and vendors supporting the IHC community
• Produce thought leadership pieces, product features, and expert Q&As in collaboration with sponsors — content that feels native and valuable, not like an ad
• Work with the sponsorship team to understand sponsor objectives and translate them into content our audience will actually engage with
News, Reminders & Product Announcements
• Write timely updates about IHC programming — upcoming webinars, new mixer dates, CLE schedules, Resource Center launches, and community milestones
• Cover relevant legal industry news and trends that matter to in-house teams, with IHC’s practical, no-jargon voice
• Draft announcements for new IHC products, features, and partnerships
• Contribute to newsletter content that drives traffic to the Resource Center and keeps 40,000+ subscribers engaged
Editorial Strategy & Operations
• Define and maintain the editorial calendar — balancing member content, sponsor content, event recaps, and timely news
• Establish the Resource Center’s voice and style guide, consistent with IHC’s brand (approachable, practical, community-first)
• Track content performance — what’s getting read, shared, and driving engagement — and adjust accordingly
• Repurpose content across channels: webinar recaps into articles, member interviews into social posts, case studies into newsletter features
What We’re Looking For
• 3–7 years of experience in journalism, content writing, editorial, or content marketing — ideally covering legal, business, compliance, or professional services
• Strong interviewing skills — you can get a busy GC to open up in a 20-minute call and turn that into a compelling piece
• Excellent writing and editing. You can take a dense legal topic and make it readable, useful, and interesting to a busy in-house counsel who has 5 minutes between meetings
• Experience producing case studies, profiles, or feature content — not just blog posts or news briefs
• Comfort with sponsored content. You understand that sponsor-funded content can be valuable to readers when done right, and you know how to strike that balance
• Editorial judgment — you know what’s worth covering, what angle to take, and how to make a topic feel timely and relevant
• Self-starter who can build an editorial operation from scratch without needing a detailed playbook
• Familiarity with CMS platforms, SEO basics, email marketing tools, and content analytics
• Legal industry experience is a strong plus but not required — curiosity about the legal world and the ability to learn quickly matter more
Compensation
$60,000–$80,000 annually depending on experience. This is a fully remote, 1099 contractor position.
