Want to cover one of the
fastest-growing areas in the country? The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
is hiring an online producer to help us stay at the forefront of news coverage
in Northwest Arkansas. The job includes responsibilities such as:
- Keeping our website up to date and arranging stories online based on our analytics.
- Sending daily and weekly email updates.
- Checking the AP wire for stories that apply to our region.
- Posting breaking news to our website.
- Posting to and maintaining our social media sites.
- Writing stories and shooting and editing video and photo slideshows, including breaking news events.
- Assisting staff with online components.
- Developing original content for the web.
- Helping create and maintain special reader engagements, such as quizzes and polls.
The work includes some nights
and weekends. This position reports to the online editor and is based in
Fayetteville, Ark.
Qualifications: We value
candidates with prior journalism experience, but we also encourage applicants
at the entry level seeking to build their careers. A college degree in print or
multimedia journalism is preferred. Basic knowledge of AP Style and standard
journalism standards and practices, as well as experience with content
management systems, basic HTML, video, photography, iMovie, Photoshop or other
similar software is also preferred.
The job involves prolonged
sitting while working on a computer screen. Remote work options may be
available for certain shifts.
