Description:
Valley Voice Media is a modern, independent, 100% digital news organization covering local government and community issues with urgency, clarity, and innovation. We're looking for a part-time reporter who is available on a consistent, ongoing basis to contribute original news stories to our four publications -- The Palm Springs Post, Indio Post, Palm Desert Post and Coachella Valley Reporter.
This is a remote position, but we strongly prefer candidates based on the West Coast due to the number of evening public meetings we cover.
Key Responsibilities:
Cover city council and other public meetings, often at night (Pacific Time)
Report on community issues and civic developments
Write original stories with minimal hand-holding
Meet deadlines and collaborate with a small editorial team
Qualifications:
Some reporting experience (freelance or professional)
Strong news writing skills
Reliable availability for steady, ongoing assignments
Openness to using AI tools in your workflow
Based in or able to work West Coast hours (preferred)
