The Opportunity


Are you passionate about producing high-impact journalism and guiding the next generation of storytellers? WUFT and the Innovation News Center (INC) at the University of Florida is hiring a Multimedia Content Producer to help shape content across our digital platforms and support a dual mission of community service and student education.


Located in the College of Journalism and Communications, the INC is a multiplatform newsroom serving north central Florida. We produce award-winning content for WUFT-TV/FM, WRUF-TV/FM, WUFT.org, WRUF.com, the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN) and beyond.


This position supports the daily digital news operations of WUFT News by editing, publishing and coordinating student-produced journalism across digital platforms. The role emphasizes editorial quality, ethical standards, workflow coordination and student mentorship in a learning-centered newsroom.


What you'll do

  • Edit and publish digital news content produced by students;
  • Assist with cross-platform digital posting and coordination;
  • Monitor analytics and support audience-focused publishing;
  • Assist in supervising OPS employees and student assistants;
  • Lead by example in our student-centered newsroom, contributing to editorial meetings and long-term planning;
  • Help sustain a newsroom that operates year-round, with self-directed reporting, writing and newsletter production.

This is an in-person position based in Gainesville, Fla., and will be designated as an essential employee to help cover severe weather like hurricanes and strong storm systems.

Expected Salary:


$53,000 to $58,000


Required Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred:

  • Three years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with the following:
    • Newsroom operating & planning systems (such as Airtable, ENPS or NewsBoss)
    • Content management systems (WordPress, Grove, etc.)
    • Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products
    • Over-the-top and streaming video technology
    • Digital analytics, SEO and newsletter publishing
  • Knowledge of north central Florida, especially Gainesville, Ocala, and surrounding communities — including their politics, history and culture
  • Master's degree in Journalism, Media, Communication(s) or related fields
