Description:
High Country News is hiring a Revenue Products Associate to support the growth and diversification of our revenue programs in support of our award-winning nonprofit media organization.
The Revenue Products Associate is a key member of HCN’s Product & Marketing team, supporting and improving a broad range of earned‑revenue programs including advertising, classifieds, underwriting, merchandise, and group sales. This role combines outward‑facing relationship building with strong internal coordination and process improvement, applying product thinking and revenue operations practices to strengthen existing programs, improve reliability and performance, and help new offerings move from concept to execution.
The position works under the general supervision of the Director of Product & Marketing and collaborates closely with colleagues in Editorial, Art, Business Operations, Customer Service, and Fundraising. Success in this role comes from measurable improvements in revenue performance, customer experience, and operational reliability across HCN’s earned‑revenue programs.
The ideal candidate has experience in revenue operations, sales support, and audience or product operations. We especially welcome candidates that have a demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in their work.
Duties / Outcomes
The Revenue Products Associate will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Product & Marketing. Duties will include:
●
Build, operate, and improve sales
and fulfillment pipelines across advertising, classifieds, underwriting,
merchandise, and group sales programs.
●
Prospect buyers, respond to
inbound inquiries, and support pricing, placement, and technical questions for
advertising and classifieds programs.
●
Design and run targeted outreach
and revenue campaigns to move prospective partners and buyers through defined
pipelines.
●
Coordinate group sales efforts,
working with Customer Service and external partners to improve clarity, usability,
and fulfillment.
●
Collaborate with Editorial and Art
on special packages, time‑bound artwork, and branded merchandise offered
through HCN’s online store.
●
Ensure earned‑revenue orders (ads,
classifieds, merchandise, group sales) are delivered accurately and on
schedule.
●
Diagnose and reduce friction
across revenue programs, improving customer experience, tools, and workflows.
●
Test, configure, and refine
revenue tools and systems (including Pelcro, AdPerfect, Broadstreet, and
related platforms) to improve reliability and scalability.
●
Create and maintain landing pages,
forms, and customer touchpoints tied to earned‑revenue offerings.
●
Ensure all earned‑revenue
materials and workflows align with HCN’s editorial independence, brand,
privacy, accessibility, and quality standards.
●
Maintain dashboards and reports
that track adoption, usage, revenue performance, and operational KPIs.
●
Support the development and launch
of new revenue programs and pilots, including jobs boards, underwriting
packages, and merchandise initiatives.
●
Evaluate new and evolving revenue
programs using clear success criteria and ROI to inform iteration, scaling, or
retirement.
●
Document workflows, test
processes, and coordinate operational rollouts for new revenue features and
offerings.
●
Represent High Country News
externally in revenue‑related correspondence, partner conversations, and select
conferences or events.
● Contribute to inclusive, respectful, and effective practices that support diverse audiences and communities.

Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about HCN’s mission and values and committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in journalism and in working practices.
The ideal candidate:
● Understands how to take a customer need from observation to idea to
implementation and iteration.
● Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and can translate customer
interactions and system behavior into clear problem statements and next steps.
● Is comfortable working with membership platforms, advertising or
classifieds tools, CRM systems, and analytics tools, or learning new systems
quickly.
● Can balance day‑to‑day operational responsibilities with ongoing
process improvement and product development.
● Is highly self‑directed, organized, and effective in a remote,
cross‑functional environment.
● Has experience in revenue operations, sales support, product operations, or subscription‑based or nonprofit media organizations; mission‑driven experience is a plus.
